Many of them are older (as in originally posted years ago), but I would like to find working links if I can because they were good stories.  I know some of them may have been taken off the net permanently (and I've noted the fact), but other times people have changed their screennames or moved websites and I have not been able to find a new link.  If you know any working links, please let me know (as well as name changes, permanent removal, that the author just up and disappeared, etc). OK, I should point out that though the prompt says “traditional winter solstice celebration” it doesn’t specify which one. There are a number of them, apparently (according to Wikipedia, which is always accurate of course). I decided to use the Cornish Mummer’s Day celebration as well as the Scottish Hogmanay celebration (and ‘first footing’). It should be noted that ‘first footing’ comes from a Norse tradition and it is said to be very good luck if the first footer is tall and dark haired (particularly because the Norse were fair-haired; opposites are good). The weather has been lovely, and Grandad Granger keeps making me come outside and ski. It's horrid. I just want to read The Red Headed League by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but no one is giving me enough time! Hugo, of course, is having a lovely time. I, however, am finding skiing tedious. Last year it was a bit of a laugh, what with Daddy falling down the ravine and everything, but this year I really just want to stay inside the lodge. ...bugger, must be off! harry_draco [ jaime27 ]	1:01a	I have decided to begin a new reccing community. There are many ficsearch communities, and I thought it might be fun to have something similar but different. Instead of the members asking for recs, the Mod will ask for them! (Almost like a treasure hunt!!) What I mean by this, is that once a week (I’ve decided on Saturdays), I plan on asking for recs of a certain theme (for example, Azkaban!fics) and everyone will rec fics that correspond with that theme. Once the week is over, I will put everything together in a nice little Masterlist (conveniently divided by tags) for everyone. All pairings are welcomed; therefore, I’m inviting practically the whole fandom!! (Gen_fics are allowed as well, even if they are essentially pairing-less :P ) As long as the fics tie to the themes, anything goes :) I named the community HP Themes, and it can be found here. The comm is going to be under construction for the next couple of weeks, but I will be posting the first theme on January 16th 2010. However, before that date, I’m going to need help choosing a theme.
